Ch 49
“...In other news, the manhunt for Gaia and two unknown supers continues. As you all remember, the superhero known as Gaia killed Kansas City Mayor, Ray Beckman, and destroyed City Hall. Unfortunately, Skycam reporter Rodger Gram and pilot Seth Garcia lost their lives when a surge of energy from the explosion shorted out all power to their helicopter. Both were believed to have died on impact. Commissioner of Kansas City Police Department released a statement early this morning."
The footage cuts to a podium right outside police hq.
"We can not hide from this truth anymore. We did not have the tools necessary to combat the supers or mutants that attacked city hall. It is with great shame that our men and women retreated from the scene unable to do anything. Each officer that ran from city hall has been put on suspension until further notice. Our department will not be the face of cowardice. We will continue our efforts to protect our citizens and bring these terrorists to justice for their crimes. I ask that if you have any information that can lead to the arrest of Gaia or her accomplices to come forward before they can cause more harm."
Ch 5
"Welcome back to Face off Debate Off. I'm your host, Tucker White. With us this round is Dr. Marvin Lang and retired senator Andrea Donawitz. Two great minds and two very different opinions. Let's face off! Doctor, you're up!"
"What's there for me to say that hasn't already been said? The human race is in danger of being taken over by a new species. We need these individuals to register so that we can be better prepared in case we are ever attacked. Just look at what happened in Kansas City. Unprepared law enforcement went into full retreat in the face of these superhumans. They killed a mayor and blew up city hall. All it took was three of them. I theorize that it would take 100 organized mutants or superhumans and a timeframe of one month to overthrow our government. If they have a powerful psychic then maybe even half that."
"Time! Senator you're up!"
"Registration of our citizens is an invasion of their privacy. Now I understand that the ones that arrived via portal aren't Americans per se, but with sanctuary laws in place, they deserve the same rights as the rest of us. Instead of a registration act I propose we create something entirely new. I'm talking about the introduction of mutants and superhumans into our law enforcement and our military. With proper training they could greatly aid our country and pave the way for a better future. My husband is in the military and has already recruited one as a test. So far this individual has been working as a bounty hunter and has done an exemplary job."
"Senator, it's naive to think that this will change anything. If we give these people, or if you can call them people, this kind of training then it could only serve to make them more dangerous should they try to rebel. Just look at Gaia. She was supposed to the symbol of what they were striving to be and she ended up killing pro registration mayor in cold blood."
"And it's very pessimistic thinking of you to assume the worst in people. These individuals deserve a chance to live constructive lives like the rest of us. A few bad apples doesn't mean that they are all bad."
"I highly doubt the American people feel the same senator. The recall petition and registration petition have caught fire. The campaigns all across the country have already started. The people will have their voices heard come election day…"

Business for Vilain had been booming. Blackmail, extortion, murder, ransom, assassination. Politics was more than just giving speeches to cities. It had its dark side the public never saw and Jean was the representation incarnate. Everything had been proceeding as planned. Chaos was being planted all across the states. He was more than enjoying himself. It was true his overall goal was to make sure that one day his master would be able to enter into this universe, but no one ever said he couldn't enjoy the journey there. One had to be able to find joy in their work and Vilain was finding more than enough in his line of duty. In the large parking lot of the Legends Mall, a rally was being held in honor of Carari Grey’s campaign and the support of the Registration Act. Vilain had slightly altered his facial appearance as to not be recognized by any pesky heroes that might want him dead or captured. He was wearing a light grey business suit as opposed to his usual attire and actually looked quite warm and friendly. As a precaution, he had his scrambler set to low power to disrupt any telepaths from trying to read his mind or manipulate the crowd.
The rally took advantage of all the space that was afforded to them. There were snack stands, games, rides, donation stands, and a podium for speakers. It was almost like a small fair. At the moment, Vilain was about to take to the stage.
“Thank you everyone for coming out today and showing your support for future President, Carari Grey.”
He paused for a moment to allow the cheers and applause.
“For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Claude Hero and like many of you, I am in favor of keeping our country safe.
*Applause*
“I understand that the last few months have been a trying time for all of us, but I see great things on the horizon. Together we can reclaim our land from fear. Look forward later today to seeing some of our candidates come up here. The recall campaign is in full swing and it’s time for a change. So all of you, enjoy your time here and remember that all proceeds from the rides and food will be going out to the victims of mutant violence.”
*More Applause*
“Anyway I won’t take up too much of your time everyone, so all of you enjoy yourselves.”
Vilain exited from the podium to shake hands with some other supporters of the candidates in favor of the Registration Act. He had to wonder how many supers or mutants had to be hiding in the crowd. Of course if they started any trouble then it could only work to Vilain’s benefit.
