Lick Your Wounds (Open)

[Caine]

Fortunately, or perhaps unfortunately, Caine wasn't so drunk that he couldn't pick up Vilain's thoughts. What he caught was troubling... did Vilain really know who he was? No, no he couldn't have... then again, if he did, it would make sense why Caine recognized the name when Sparky yelled it out. As he was given that glimpse into the mind of his enemy, something in his own mind triggered, and in that moment the club was gone, Ayen was gone. For a moment, there was just darkness....

"Stay down!" For once in his life, William Thorne actually looked afraid. He didn't make any attempt to hide it, but why? He watched nothing but scary movies, went through countless haunted houses, he was practically unshakable. But these guys, the ones that dragged our parents out of the house, one look at these guys and I could easily tell why he would be scared. 

"What about Mom and Dad? We gotta help them!"

"Are you crazy, look at those guys! They'd kill us in a heartbeat. Besides, it doesn't look like they're in too much danger. I think they're just interrogating them, y'know like on those cop shows?" As usual, my older brother couldn't resist telling me what to do. Just because they're not hurting them now, doesn't mean they wouldn't do it later.


"What do you think they want?"

"I don't know, maybe Dad has a gambling problem, maybe Mom maxed out a credit card? Why does it matter?!" All of a sudden, we could hear Mom chew out one of them. He was dressed different from the others, fancy all-black clothing, he looked like someone from The Matrix. Maybe he was the one in charge? Wait, what the hell?! Did he really just hit her?! You don't hit girls, that's like the one thing a guy should never do!

"Hey, what are you doing?! Stay down?! Hey, get back here!"

I can't let this go on! He's gonna kill them, I have to do something!

"GET AWAY FROM THEM!!"

All of a sudden the bad guys went flying... but how... did... did I do that?

My parents just looked at me, surprised as I was...

"Daniel... what did you just do..."

All of a sudden Caine was back at the club, he was still sitting at the bar, Ayen was still sitting next to him. Was it a dream? Those names... William... Daniel... Wiliam was the older kids name. The father called him Dan... Was that... HIS name?

"I'll be right back." Without any hesitation, he made a beeline for the VIP lounge, taking control of the bouncer to let him through... Vilain was gone. He was there, in the vision.... He knew who Caine was. He knew what he was... Caine returned to the bar, paying for his and Ayen's drinks. "We need to go, now. I'll explain on the way."

[Ayen Matthews]

Ayen raised an eyebrow and wondered if it had anything to do with the guy who bought them the whiskey, but he figured it wasn't any of his business in the first place. He finished up his drink, not even a little tipsy, and sat up from the bar.

"One thing, though. I don't drive. I fly."

[Caine]

Wait what? Ayen... flies? He didn't drive, he flew? Seriously? "....You didn't think to mention that earlier, as in when you offered to take me to Xavier's place? Or at least before I downed like.... half, or more than half a bottle of expensive whiskey?" Ayen didn't even seem like he was affected by the booze, and he let such an important detail slip his mind. Caine couldn't help but facepalm. He didn't exactly hate heights, but usually he'd prefer to stay on ground level.

"You know what, beggars can't be choosers. Still not as bad as trying to get a taxi. And uh... sorry in advance if I throw up on you." With that he simply strode toward the exit, somewhat dreading his upcoming flight, but if Xavier could help with his Vilain problem, the trip would be worth a bit of air sickness and vertigo. Not much else he could do, if he went up against Vilain now he wouldn't stand a chance. He needed all the help he could get. He just hoped he could keep his lunch down during the ride...

[Ayen Matthews]

"I never was good at timing."

Ayen followed Caine out and then looked around to see if any bystanders were around. Once the coast was clear he gently grabbed Caine and took off into the sky and flew through the air headed for Xavier's place. It has been a while since he been to the school, and it would be nice to see some friendly faces after all that happened since he tried to get his life back on track.
