Throughout the conversation he noticed the look of discomfort on her face. She sure looked worried about something. What was it? Was the food they are coming back for vengeance. No that wasn't it. The dead give away of the problem came when the commander mentioned the GPS. From there it started donning on him. Was she in some kind of trouble? Was it his business to ask her something like that considering they only met the same day? Upon asking Annalise if she was up for helping, it didn't look like she hesitated.
She must not of been in too much trouble if she was willing to go near law enforcement. He out it in the back of his. Kaz would just have to ask her later about it. For now they had more pressing.matters to deal with. Kazadus gave the signal for her to follow and started running towards the liquor store. He knew that he could already bring fast, but if he infused his energy into his muscles he go even faster. He had a small burst go through before stopping the flow of energy. He didn't want to leave Annalise behind.
"When we get there, we'll talk to the officers on scene. Don't want them shooting at us too."
Upon turning the corner, Kazadus got a good view at what they were shooting at. He caught view of what looked like one mutant that could create sonic booms with his voice. It wasn't hard to figure out considering the loud boom coming from his mouth. It was strong enough to flip over one of the patrol cars. The officers hiding behind it retreated back while returning fire. One of the other mutants stepped in front of the loud mouth to block the bullets. He was a giant. At least 7 feet tall and made of solid rock. The last one was still inside. Kaz couldn't be too sure what his power was. He looked back at Annalise and pointed towards the patrol cars in the far back.
"We'll talk to the cops in the back here. Get them to pull their guys out of the way. Last thing we need is anyone to get caught in the collateral damage."

One of the patrol cars flipped over and the sound of metal scraping and glass shattering reverberated down the street. Annalise clenched her jaw and winced. At least no one was inside. The other mutant was bullet proof and this instilled concern. If bullets would not shear its "skin," then what would? Explosives? Her gaze flicked between the two mutants, whose abilities seemed to work together. One was offensive and the other was defensive; but what did that make the final mutant? An unknown in the heat of battle could spell disaster.
"Agreed," Annalise drew in a deep breath, filling her lungs to maximum capacity, and exhaled all of it out to steady her fluttering heart. It wasn't the upcoming fight that had her on edge, but the fact she would be doing so in front of witnesses. Don't be a hero, don't be a hero, don't be a hero--
"Hey! Get back! This is an active scene!" A policeman in a bulletproof vest shouted to Kaz and Annalise as they made their approach. She did not realize she had followed him. Her thoughts echoed Eliza's warning, but it was too late to back out now. Annalise was committed to putting down a threat, and judging by how far that police car had flipped over and the invulnerability to bullets, innocent lives could be in danger. How many of these cops had families and friends who were close to them? How man--
"LOOK OUT!" A cop shouted as another sonic blast sent another police car into another vehicle, sending some officers sprawling to the floor. Some were struck by the vehicles and others got lucky.
Eliza's warning snuffed out.
Time for Kaz to work his authority in this matter before more people got hurt!

Upon being told to get back, Kazadus yelled back at the officers and flashed his bounty hunter's badge.
"Bounty Hunter! Commander Jackson should of radioed ahead!"
Law enforcement should of been used to Kazadus by now. He had already helped them catch a few law breaking supers and mutants. Most of the officers on the force still held a big distrust of him though. Some military endorsed super getting to come into whatever active crime scene he wanted and getting paid extra to catch supers and mutants. It didn’t seem fair to them, but that was the deal the government gave Kazadus. He knew not very many people liked him, but he didn’t care. It was some kind of good deed and he wasn’t looking for a pat on the back for doing it. Though making some kind of money off those deeds wasn’t a bad deal either. Technically he was also paying for any damages he did during his hunts since they deducted it from his paychecks. Making a hundred gs quickly turned into only five gs sometimes after he was done.
“TELL YOUR OFFICERS TO GET BACK!”
Kazadus shouted at the one that was yelling at them just a moment ago. They weren’t going to be of any help with 9mm handguns. Kazadus pulled out his revolver from his back and handed it to Annalise along with a few extra speed loader rounds. He wasn’t sure if she ever shot before, but it was now or never.
“Get ready to cover me if that screamer even starts to raise his voice too high. Just point and squeeze the trigger. Six shots before you gotta reload. Just pop the cylinder open, drop the empty rounds and place the next ones in.”
Kazadus bolted out into the open where the three mutants could see him. His goal was to divert the attention of them so the officers could grab their wounded and run for cover.
“Well if isn’t Larry, Moe, and Curly!”
It worked. He saw that the three of them were looking right at him. The screamer tilted his head in confusion. He was wearing a red jacket, a white tank top, blue shorts and white shoes. He pushed his unkempt blonde hair back and spoke.
“You’re no cop. What’s your deal? You got a death wish idiot. Get the fuck out of here while we still let you.”
The one made of rock was only wearing camo cargo pants. His body wasn’t evenly made, but was distinct enough to appear like a man… a very tall bulky man. Just turning towards Kazadus made the ground under the giant crack from his weight. His voice was just as gravely as his body.
“Just kill him Vox!”
Kazadus lifted his finger up and pointed it at them like it was a gun.
“Give up or I’ll shoot.”
All of them started laughing, but the ploy was working. The wounded officers were being pulled back by the ones that could still walk. Despite the danger in front of him, Kaz felt nothing, but calmness. Somehow he felt like he was at home on a battlefield. Images from numerous battles of his past came rushing into his head all at once. It was all jumbled, but it was all war. Luckily he wasn’t too lost in his flashback. Vox was the first to break out of his laugh.
“Hey Rocko, just tear him apart and lets get out of here.”
Kazadus smirked.
“Oh well I tried.”
Energy ran from his body and into his finger. A blue light began to envelope his hand. He imagined a trigger in his head and pulled it. Within a blink of an eye, pure energy came flying out of his index finger and right into rock like mutant. The blue light illuminated the entire block as the blast made contact with him. Rocko never even had a chance to react. It came out faster than he could have hoped to avoid. The energy blast sent the giant right through the liquor store and slamming through multiple shelves before coming to halt into the wall in the back. Vox and the other unknown mutant were left stunned at the damage. Kazadus looked at the other two through the smoke coming off of his finger. He had definitely gotten stronger.

Upon seeing his badge, the officer that shouted at them took one quick look at the three mutants and rushed to Kaz, gun lowered to the ground, but he was ready to fire at the hostiles. "They did radio ahead." He admitted now that he got a good luck at Kazadus. At Kazadus' command, the officer motioned for the others to move away from the scene, shouting, "Go! Go, move!" Had this been a more minor incident, they probably would have put up a fuss, rolled their eyes, or made some rude gestures at the bounty hunter, but in this case, they seemed more than glad to have him take over. They had officers down and they needed immediate medical attention.
Annalise took the weapon offered by Kazadus and nodded firmly. She would cover him if he needed her to. As he ran out into the open, she crouched down by one of the cars, and watched the scene unfold. All around them, uninjured or mildly injured officers were getting those unable to help themselves to safety all thanks to Kazadus' hilarious antics.
Why was he pointing his finger at them? Annalise was unsure if this was meant to be a joke or if he was serious. "Kaz...?" She spoke through her teeth. They were going to attack him! This was no time for jests!
Then, the blue light crescendoed. Instinct screamed for her to close her eyes, and a split second after, blinding light bathed the block. The intensity was so great, her eyes stung behind her eyelids, and even with the assistance of her forearm, she could practically see the bones beneath her flesh. She heard rock smashing against numerous items inside the shop before ending at what sounded like a concrete wall. Annalise winced--that had to hurt.
When her eyes fluttered open, she saw the damage and the shock of the other mutants as smoke wafted from Kazadus' finger. Lightweight debris from inside the shop drifted into the air and settled onto the damaged asphalt. Well, that's one digit no one should pull on! Annalise flicked her gaze to survey the scene. The mutants were distracted, the cops were busy, and Kazadus was not looking in her direction.
Unfortunately, it dawned on her that she couldn't attack their minds. The environment would not produce an efficient fear response, and it could also cause them to become more volatile if they were seeing something that was not there.
Kazadus would feel a sharp breeze brush past him, and the lingering smoke followed Annalise's path as she made a beeline for the sonic-mutant. The woman was swift in positioning herself to execute a strike straight for his solar plexus. The force put into the attack would not kill him, but it would render him incapable of inhaling for a moment. No air, no sound. Following that, she would punch him across the face to send him sprawling to the ground.
"WHAT THE HELL?!" The other mutant shouted, and she quickly moved away from it as she did not know what it was capable of. Good thing, too, for where she once stood, there was a puddle of pungent liquid sizzling against the asphalt. This mutant had acidic spit, and judging by how big his cheeks were becoming, he was getting ready for a bigger attack...at Kazadus!
Not good!
"Watch out!"
The mutant faced Kazadus, inhaled, and tried to spit a stream of acid at him!

There was still some distance between him and the other mutants. He could expend more energy, but before he could align his next target, he felt a quick breeze rush past him.
"Annalise...?"
She was a super too. No way a normal person could clear that kind of distance in that short amount of time. Vox was preparing to scream another sonic booms, but nothing came out, but a gasp. He was hit and hard. Before the mutant could even register that he couldn't breathe, he was sent flying across the ground. Kazadus smiled a bit. She didn't mention anything about super human strength or speed, but then again he hadn't asked either. Two down and one to go. There was no time to celebrate though. The last mutant had a surprise for them… Acid.
Seeing as Annalise was able to dodge, he didn't want to give the bastard another chance to get a shot off on her before she had a chance to regain her footing. Kazadus quickly rushed at the acidic mutant. A big mistake on his part. His target wasn't Annalise like he thought it would be, but Kazadus himself this time. The acid came blasting out of his mouth like a pressure hose. Kazadus barely had enough time to defend himself. He lifted his arm to cover his face and put up a small barrier of energy, but unfortunately he didn't have enough time to fully prepare a defense.
Some of the acid burned through his shirt and the bandages underneath. The drippings hit the lower part of jeans on his right side. His flesh sizzled as parts of his clothes burned. Now he was pissed. Despite the burning agony his body was in, Kazadus rushed the mutant before he could get off another shot on him. His energy infused punch, along with the momentum of his speed, broke the acid spewers jaw and sent him flying into a patrol car. The impact had to of broken several bones since it looked like the mutant could barely move.
Kazadus walked over to him as he tore off his melting flannel shirt. Using what was left of it, he wiped away the acid as best he could. The burn marks quickly started to heal. There wasn't a single part of his body that wasn't grotesquely scared. Not a single smooth surface was left on him. Just how many battles had he gone through and how much torture did he endure to look so disfigured. Not even his regeneration could heal all the damage he had taken throughout the years he couldn't remember. As he got close enough to the crippled mutant, he thought of beating him senseless, but got control over his anger and thought better of it.
"You're under arrest asshole..."

"Kaz!" Annalise shouted in alarm when the acid dealt its damage. Like her, he could heal rapidly, but it did not deter from feeling one's own flesh ebb away from acid. She could smell burnt skin mixed with the substance and her nose wrinkled. That acid spitter had to go down. Now. Annalise's legs tensed and she prepared to dart to this one with the intention of damaging his throat, but Kazadus got to him first. The acid-spitting mutant's jaw broke apart with a wet crack and he went flying to one of the few undamaged police vehicles. His now crooked jaw dropped as agony shot through his body from head to toe, and thanks to the force of the impact, he was wedged in the newly forged curvature of the car. Moving out of that would be out of the question due to the numerous broken bones in his body. The pain was so intense, he could scarce breathe, let alone make much of a sound. Acid dribbled from his opened mouth and dissolved some of his clothing and the ground around him.
Annalise straightened her posture and knelt beside Vox, grabbed a hold of him, and proceeded to drag him towards officers waiting to arrest him. "I'd advise a good muzzle for this one." Once the police took him away, Annalise returned to Kazadus, who stood over the broken acid mutant. She noted the countless scars that marred his body and she stared at them quizically. What happened to make his healing abilities inefficient? High temperatures? Mutated abilities?
But then, a more urgent thought occurred to her and she faced the liquor store. What about the stone mutant? Was he down for the count, and how would he be arrested?

Kazadus looked over at the approach of Annalise. The sizzling of his flesh finally came to a stop as the last of wounds finished healing.
"Hey there Speedy. Guess you didn't need the gun after all."
From behind them, Kazadus could hear movement from the liquor store. The debris should of settled already so it could mean only one thing. Rocko was up and moving. Kazadus turned around to look at the liquor store.
"Looks like we're not done yet. You ready?"
The giant stone mutant lumbered out of the opening the impact had made. His rock like face had the look of anger. His left arm was missing and a giant hole in his chest cavity. From the wounds, it looked like he was bleeding, though not as much as a normal person would with those kinds of wounds. The shot Kazadus inflicted had done more damage than the giant was counting on. Rocko roared with anger at the two that had dared to interfere with their robbery.
"I Will Fucking Murder You Both And Wear Your Skin!!"
Rocko drove his remaining hand into the concrete. Almost in a liquid like movement, the concrete began to run up his arm and reform the missing parts of his body until all the damage that had been done to him was repaired. He was going to be a tough one to bring down considering they were in a concrete jungle where he could just repair himself nearly anywhere. Kazadus and Annalise were going to have their hands full with this one.
"Hey Annalise. He may be as hard as a rock outside, but I'm willing to bet his insides are as soft as ours."
Rocko started lifting one of the patrol cars over his head and prepared to throw it at them. Why was it these giant freaks always loved throwing heavy objects, Kazadus wondered. He wouldn't give him the chance though. Upon seeing he was all clear to make the shot, Kazadus fired his index finger again at the beast, this time hitting the patrol car's gas tank. The explosion engulfed the mutant in flames and light. The damage it inflicted could not be seen with the flames covering their enemy.
"If we can open him up again we can put him down permanently."

"You'd be surprised how often I needed one." Annalise cracked a smile, but the expression was short-lived when she realized that Rocko was back in action with an ability to absorb concrete to repair his body. The woman groaned. Just when she thought this was dealt with, they had one big obstacle to take down. "About as ready as I can be." Came her delayed and honest response. Not everyone was ready to defeat a rock mutant of this caliber, but you live and learn...if you live.
Kazadus was right--he was vulnerable past his strong shell. They had to get a big enough opening to strike a soft spot that would kill him. This mutant had to be put down. No jail cell could keep this one locked up.
Rocko picked up the car, and she prepared to get herself and Kazadus out of harm's way, but Kaz's ability stopped the attack. Flames roared to life and licked his stone body with an intense burst of heat. That would keep him distracted but not for long.
Think, Annalise, think! You have to try something.
Liquor? No, he would use the fires on his body to his advantage, and become an invulnerable fireball with legs until the fumes were used up. Any damage they deal will be healed by the neverending supply of concrete. They were nowhere near a store that had substances meant to get through rock, and she couldn't gather acid from that spitter.
"Can you do that one attack again?"
It split him open enough last time. If he could repeat that attack, she could use her knives to finish the job, provided he opened the armor at a vulnerable position.

Kazadus didn't have an unlimited supply of ammo, but he didn't feel winded either from regenerating and shooting off that blast earlier. He wondered what his new limit was. Hopefully he wouldn't hit that limit anytime soon, but he knew for sure he had enough energy left in him to fire off another shot. He kept his finger trained on the flames where Rocko was at.
"Yeah. I can even do it with one eye closed."
Kazadus fired off the blue energy beam right at the flames. He expected there to be some kind of impact behind the flames, but nothing happened. The beam of energy passed right through the fire and hit another parked car. As the flames dissipated, Rocko was nowhere to be seen.
"That's a pretty good magic trick… Where the hell did he… LOOK OUT!"
Rocko emerged out of the cement behind them like he was in water. He could actually melt his entire body and move throughout the concrete quietly. The only thing that gave his presence away was the sound of rock reforming upon coming back up. Kazadus had enough time to push Annalise to the side before Rocko grabbed Kazadus and started running. While running, he smashed Kazadus's head into the ground and started dragging him across the hard concrete. The force had which he pushed him down was enough to shatter the road and leave a trail of blood behind. The mutant followed up by throwing Kaz into the liquor store. He crashed through the counter and empty cash register.
The monster looked back Annalise and grinned.
"That pretty face won't be looking like that much longer."
Rocko drove his fist into the ground. Like he did before, the concrete acted like a portal for his body to go through. His fist came flying out of the concrete behind Annalise as he attempted to drive his sharp stone knuckles into her back.

Annalise expected impact as well, but when Kaz's energy beam passed through smoke and fire, the woman's body tensed. Where did Rocko go? How could someone so large vanish without making a sound? Annalise's eyes rapidly surveyed the scene for any sign of his whereabouts, but there was no trace. "I don't like this, Ka--" He bellowed out a warning and shoved her aside, leaving Rocko an opening to take him instead. Annalise stumbled to the ground with a grunt, and she scrambled back to her feet in time to witness the gruesome and bloody assault Kazadus had spared her from. Her eyes widened in horror.
"KAZ!" Annalise shouted before Rocko threw him into the liquor store, and she fixated an angry glare at the mutant.
It was good he ate so much prior to coming here else he may not have stood a chance, but the injuries he sustained were severe. Would he make it? Annalise couldn't go after him, not without Rocko using this opportunity to deal a finishing blow to both of them at the same time. Would that sorcerer help him? Could she call upon him or was Kazadus' power stemming from him? Damn it, she could not take that risk and say those words that would slow time! She had to hold onto faith that Kazadus had enough energy to bring himself out of a critical state, because Rocko was facing her now, and she was the next target for his vicious attacks.
If he thought she would remain in the same spot, he was mistaken. There was no way in heaven, hell, or whatever afterlife there was she would stay there now she she knew what he could do! Annalise sprang away and kept herself moving about in sporadic patterns under the assumption he could not see while he traveled underneath.
The floor is lava. Very, very dangerous lava, and she had no furniture to stand on.
Annalise couldn't run away from this scene. In doing so, she would endanger civilians and create more damage to the city. Yet, this area was prime hunting ground for Rocko. There were no nearby fire hydrants, no nearby stores that could sell corrosives, and all they had here was liquor, vehicles that still acted as shields for frazzled officers, and a chance to create a fire. Cleaning supplies took time to damage rocks, so that was out of the question, and she doubted he would give her enough time to mix something with said chemicals.
There was one option, and at this point, it was their last best hope. Annalise only hoped it would be enough, and that it wouldn't backfire. First, she had to lure him out from the ground, and she hoped that in her inconsistent hopping and leaping about, it would encourage him to come forth. Annalise enhanced her hearing just enough to hear small rocks grinding together.
Please be okay, Kaz, Annalise thought to herself.

Kazadus grunted in pain as his vision started to come to. He couldn't believe it, but he could tell right away that Rocko packed an even bigger punch than H666 ever did. Blood was running down the left side of his face, numerous other small wounds covered his chest, and a rebar from the concrete wall was sticking out of his gut. Getting loose was going to hurt like hell. Kazadus pulled on the bar as he let out a yell of pain. Slowly he inched himself free before falling back to ground. He coughed up blood on the floor and was breathing heavy from the exertion, but there was no time for rest. Annalise was out there fighting too and he wasn't just going to leave her so he could catch his breath.
As Kaz got to his feet, he staggered side to side as his wounds started closing. The only signs of his injuries was the blood that still covered him. He spit the last of his blood out of his mouth and took a look out the liquor store to see Annalise bouncing back and forth. It was smart thinking. A moving target was harder to hit. Rocko was nowhere to be seen, which meant he had to be moving through the concrete waiting for an opening on her. Rocko was getting impatient with Annalise non stop movement. The mutant came flying out of the ground at high speed. His intention was to grab her and expose her to the same pain he gave Kazadus. Seeing that Annalise was about to be attacked, Kazadus came running out full speed to intercept Rocko.
"ANNALISE!"
He wasn't sure if he'd make it in time. He just had to hope she could dodge in time or had some kind of plan set up.

Annalise did have a plan, and it was something she hadn't attempted before.
While hopping and skipping about, Annalise kept passing quick glances at the liquor store in hopes of seeing Kazadus rise up from the rubble. No sign of him yet. This troubled her, but again, she could not go to him while Rocko was on the move. If both of them were down for the count, everyone else would be in danger of being pulverized.
Rocko emerged! She heard Kazadus' voice, but there was no time for her to look at him or respond! Annalise sprang away; however, he was faster than she anticipated. While she managed to evade his grasp, she did not get away from the rest of his bulky form. While mid-air, her body collided with his, and she was sent to the ground, tumbling uncontrollably. Annalise's sunglasses snapped and broke apart against the loose gravel. Her jeans and coat protected her limbs from being skinned, but the repeated impacts sent pain blooming throughout her body. Her head hit something and her skin stung. She could smell hot copper and something warm trickled down the right side of her face. Annalise hissed in a breath through gritted teeth.
Now was not the time to give into pain. Pain was a state of mind. It was a response, a warning from the body. Shut it out and focus.
Annalise ceased rolling onto her back and looked towards Rocko, who was still above ground, and right where she wanted him. The woman inhaled sharply and focused her attention at his head...
--
"What does it feel like, Annalise?" A middle aged woman asked a thin teenager with uneven and shortly cropped hair and a worn disposition. The clothes she wore were too big for her small frame, but she would grow into them. They were sitting at the dinner table in a dimly lit room where Annalise feverishly shoveled food into her mouth. Mashed potatoes, veggies with pineapple, and three steaks were piled on a large serving platter. "When you make people feel scared?"
Annalise stopped eating, blinked, and put her utensils down. Eliza had been asking her these questions as a part of her ongoing therapy. Progress had been made, but this was one subject she was terrified of addressing. For months and months she gave her the run around or did not respond.
"It's okay, Annalise. I'm here. They won't hurt you. They're not coming back." Eliza pushed a pitcher of water into her reach so she could refill her cup, "What do you feel, dear?"
Annalise swallowed a lump of mashed potatoes, licked her lips, and stared at the radio, which played the new hit, "American Pie" by Don McLean. She sat before that radio for countless hours listening to this "music" Eliza told her about back at the lab. Sometimes, Eliza would go to bed and wake up to find her still sitting there with the volume down low. It kept her mind off things.
"Annalise?"
"It..." A breath trembled into her lungs, and finally, she described it, "It's like...the world is a house and I'm a door. I feel like I let something in."
---
Annalise's pupils dilated and consumed her irises. Her eyes became severely bloodshot. The woman steadily got to her feet as her healing abilities kicked in. She felt as though something slipped free from her and latched onto Rocko's mind with malicious intent. One application. Again. Second application. Once more. Third application. A final time. Fourth application. Annalise had never used this "ability" on the same person more than once. If it didn't work the first time, she assumed they had a sound mind and took them out another way. Hell, Annalise rarely if ever used this ability out of concern it would be traced back to her, or worse, reflect onto her.
The first application would instill a case of fight or flight. It was the sensation that caused one's hair on their neck to stand on end, and to look around for the source. The second amplified those sensations. Everything felt wrong. Some unknown entity was out to get him. Where was it? What was out there? The third made things worse. It was behind him, it was below him--it was everywhere. He may see things but what they were was beyond Annalise's control. The final application could trigger realistic hallucinations of things he would not want to see, of things he buried deep within his mind, or of possibilities that haunted him. It was all up to his own mind to turn on itself and drive itself insane. Sometimes, insanity was merciful.
Thirty seconds of that could feel like a lifetime.
Annalise staggered away and took a knee. She hoped it was enough, and that her earlier concerns of volatile reactions wouldn't come to pass.

Kazadus wasn't able to make it in time to either stop Rocko from crashing into her or prevent her from hitting the pavement. He did however make it to her side to start a counter attack. Rocko was charging at them full speed like a bull. Kazadus started to dump energy into his fist. Once Rocko would get close enough, Kaz planned to smash him to pieces in one punch. The only thing was, he didn't need to. Rocko stopped dead in his tracks. A look of confusion, followed by anger, and then fear hit his stone face. Kazadus looked down at Annalise. He could somehow sense the dark energy pouring out of her and into Rocko.
The giant was yelling and screaming. He looked to be attacking the air and himself. Kazadus wondered what was happening to the mutant, but the more he looked at the insane giant, the more he too started to hear something whispering to him. Was she inflicting some kind of illusion on Rocko? Was that illusion so powerful that it could not be contained to one person's mind. He continued to look on as if he was trying to listen to what the whisper was saying until he finally heard it. The sound of the whisper was frightening. It was like he could feel his heart drop into his stomach. The voice had echo of power that mortal ears were not supposed to hear. "I've found you."
Kazadus turned his head away from the insane beast. He shivered a bit uncomfortably like he heard something he was never supposed to hear. Just what had Annalise unleashed on Rocko. If Kazadus felt that small bit of fear from Rocko, then just what was Rocko enduring. Eventually the monster passed out. His eyes had gone completely white. His mouth was salivating foam. He looked completely comatose. Kazadus looked at Annalise.
"What was that?"

Judging by Rocko's screaming and thrashing, she had succeeded in her attempts, and relief washed over her. Thank god--it was over. Annalise sniffed, rubbed her nose, and a wet, red line trailed along her skin. The injuries Rocko inflicted had healed over and left smears of blood and tattered clothing as a sign of their prior existence. During her recovery, Annalise did not see the look on Kazadus' face nor was she aware of what had transpired while madness made itself at home in Rocko's tattered mind. After all, Annalise was still under the delusion that elder beings did not exist, and that this ability was her imposing a limited will upon a victim. But, she hadn't seen someone react that way before...
Kazadus' question did give her pause. No one, save for Eliza, saw this in action. She had kept this a secret all these years. Annalise did not want to remain out here for much longer. Too many people witnessed this.
"It's a long story." She confessed, "First, I think we need new clothes and a second breakfast." Annalise began to move away from the scene with her head down to allow her hair to cover some of her features. They had to get out of here before news outlets tried to intercept. The last thing she wanted was to have her face plastered on television.

“We can talk about it over a drink if you want to. I won’t force you to talk about it if you don’t want to.”
She had kept a good amount of information hidden from Kazadus, but he wasn’t going to fault her for it. Everyone had their secrets and if she didn’t want to talk about it then he wasn’t about to start constantly harassing her with curious questions, but if he was being honest with himself, he was very curious to find out more. It wouldn’t take long for law enforcement to come back and flood the scene to collect the law breakers. Kazadus imagined that he’d be looking at a nice paycheck for catching the three mutants. He had been planning to split the check though with Annalise. It was a fair day’s work and she pulled her weight just as much as Kazadus did.
Kazadus walked over to Rocko to inspect the body. He wasn’t too sure if he was dead or just knocked out. Putting his fingers on the mutants neck didn’t help much. He couldn’t feel a pulse, then again what were the chances of feeling a pulse through stone thick skin. He turned around to ask Annalise.
“You think that attack killed him or…?”
Rocko roared back to life. He was still screaming. He had gone completely mad and berserk. There was no sense of himself left. The only thing that ran through the brutes mind was kill or be killed. He needed to kill everything. He had no choice. Everything was out to get him. Everything needed to die. Kazadus would be the first to suffer his wrath. The beast quickly leaped back up to his feet before Kazadus could turn around and jumped at him with extreme force. The speed at which the stone mutant could move was surprising. He grabbed Kazadus in tackling motion and leapt with him across the street to the gas station.
Both came crashing into several pumps causing a large explosion. Black smoke and heat enveloped the block. Fire surrounded the two as Rocko held Kazadus down with one hand and continued to pummel on him. Nothing comprehensible came out of the monsters mouth. Only screams of horror and rage. It was hard for Kazadus to focus as he continued to breathe in the poisonous clouds of burning gasoline. In between the punches, he could see a broken piece of metal close to him. He desperately started reaching for it. He gripped it hard as to not lose the metal piece and when Rocko pulled his fist back for another punch, Kazadus retaliated by jamming the metal into the giant’s mouth. The force of it, broke through his rocky lips and shattered his teeth. Rocko stepped back from Kazadus as he tried to pull the metal bar out of his large mouth. Kazadus’ voice came out raspy from the smoke as he prepared to finish off Rocko.
“Lets see you come back from this one.”
While still on the ground, Kazadus aimed his finger at the opening in Rocko’s mouth and fired off another energy blast. He was counting on the fact that his insides had to be soft like him and Annalise had previously thought. Blue light emanated from Rocko’s mouth as the blast started cooking the inside of his skull. Within a few moments, the rock like head started to look more like lava and melted off the rest of his body. No brain meant nothing to control the mutants powers. It was finally done. Kazadus had no time to celebrate. He couldn’t even breath with all the smoke around him. His head was spinning from the lack of oxygen before he collapsed again next to Rocko’s body. The flames of the inferno started inching their way closer to Kazadus.
